Wines from Valais
With more than 5’000 hectares of wineyard, the region of Valais is about one third of the total swiss wineyard with about 50 grape varieties. Sion is the second most important wine-growing area in Valais with 420 hectares. Four of its wine are ranked as “Grand cru”: Fendant, Ermitage, Dôle and Syrah. Moreover, local wines won many awards in European competitions.
